How to Hold the Students'Accountability With Care?

The role of the teacher is to make the students feel responsible for their own actions. When the students are responsible for their own actions they will know their rights and their own duties inside the class.

Holding the students accountability is not an easy task. Many teachers in the world assume that they should act strictly with no mercy with the students to make them feel responsible for their own actions. Hence, strict relationship makes the students loses their trust on their teachers.

Making the students responsible for their own actions and embracing care can be  easily achievable .The teacher should teach the students that for every action there is an effect. The teacher should deliver consequences whenever opportunities allow to. At the same time ,the teacher is expected to maintain good relationship with the students through embracing enough love and care.

The teacher shows her care ,when she knows what the students like and dislike. Also,The teacher shows her care when she has high expectation of all the students. When the teacher embraces love and care the students will respect her.

Delivering consequences and showing compassion is the mother’s strategy to show her love to her kids. The same strategy is used by the consistent teachers; as an instance ,if the teacher spots two students talking then she can tell them that if they continue to talk then she will shift their seats. The students will   understand that shifting their seat is the result of their own actions.

In addition, to maintain a good relation with the students the teacher should avoid humiliation and punishment. Every teacher in the world should differentiate between punishment and consequences. Punishment causes long psychological scars on the students ,and it can lower the students’ enthusiasm and motivation to learn new things. However ,consequences is made for the leaner’s own benefits .Consequences makes the students aware that for  every action there is a reaction .Hence, it teaches them to behave  responsibly  by choosing the consequences of their own actions.

Punishment is effective for short term but it can literally make the students hates the teacher.

To sum things up teaching the students how to behave in a responsible way doesn’t mean that the teacher should show her mean face. Holding the students ‘accountability can be easily achieved when the teacher shows her compassion and her love to the students.
